Our Partners

It is through the support of our partners that many of our projects have been able to be undertaken for the benefit of all.

Still to come

Benefits of native fodder shrubs.

Over the past two years sheep have been allowed acces to native grazing shrubs. This has been under the guidelines of Dr Dean Revell's research into improved feed efficiency and self-medicating sheep. In 2011 we will be further utilising this approach.

Plantings of native corridors to further link existing remnant vegetation areas.

As part of our continued effort to restore the ecosystem on our land base. Further tree corridors are being planted to link existing remnant areas in the aim of increasing the movement of native animals through this areae..

Environment

Finding a balance between production, profit and the environment will always challenge.....

Bralca has embraced this challenge to find a way of creating a truly sustainable business. One that will endure and continue to grow and learn from the best science available.

Current Projects

Grassy Box Woodlands

Areas on the 'Bewley' property have been identified as part of the endangered grassy box woodlands eco system. These areas are being managed in such a way to protect this valuable resource. This includes fencing off vulnerable areas and strategic grazing of some areas to encourage desirable native plants whilst controling invasive weeds.

Native birds are just some of the animals that find safe habitat in this area. These birds then feed on the adjacent production land forming part of our IPM program.

Remnant Vegetation Protection

With over 60 native plant species already identified, and many more waiting to be found, and its unique rock formations over 2km long, this area is truly amazing.

This area has been protected under an agreement with the NSW State Government

Grazing Management

Planned grazing management on our farms is providing improved soil and pasture condition along with improved animal health. A focus on deep rooted perenial grasses within our system is improving the condition of our soils by cycling carbon and nutrients using natural ecology.

Soil carbon levels are being monitored under an arangement with the Central West CMA. This includes soil carbon in grazing areas as well as protected remnant vegetation.

EMS

We are continuing to manage our business under the guidelines of our Environmental Management System. This provides the structure for continual improvement in everything we do. This approach allows our business to continue to refine its plans to minimise its environmental footprint whilst optimising our social and environmental outcomes.
